Approach: In this study energy efficient Optimal Power Control MAC with Overhearing Avoidance (OPC-OA) was proposed. The transmission power of every node was dynamically changed for the optimal connectivity between nodes. The optimal transmission power for a link was estimated in this OPC-AC algorithm by measuring the link quality by using RSSI. The energy consumption analysis of proposed MAC had been done in MATLAB based discrete event simulation. Results: The comparison of energy consumption analysis of the proposed MAC with the On Demand Transmission Power Control (ODTPC) had been done. Conclusion: The results showed the proposed transmission power control MAC with overhearing avoidance outperforms the On Demand Transmission Power Control (ODTPC) in terms of energy consumption.}, journal = {Journal of Computer Science}, publisher = {Science Publications} }
