These components play a major role in making that new technology a success. In this paper we discuss Autonomic Computing (AC) and especially self management and Service Discovery (SD) as the enabling technologies for ubiquitous networks. The AC puts the ‘visible’ automation into ubiquitous networks an element which has drawn huge interest both among the public and industry. The envisioned benefits of AC are very promising but its applications are at their inaugural stages. Service discovery is well known for its significance in ubiquitous environments. However practical manifestations of environments such as futuristic smart homes and ubiquitous kitchens remains to be seen as a success. We discuss our research findings and enlist the importance of the two enabling technologies mentioned above.}, journal = {Journal of Computer Science}, publisher = {Science Publications} }
