AB  - In this research an evaluation-in terms of investments-of hydroponics greenhouses is carried out, as well as the possibility of the development of greenhouse crops cultivations, such as vegetables and flowers, in them is explored in Western Macedonia. The survey was realized between the years 2002-2006, in a model greenhouse, which was installed by the Public Power Corporation S.A., in soils that are to be restored after the excavation of lignite. In this research, a comparative analysis of different hydroponics systems was carried out, in relation to the initial investment by the Net Present Value and the inexpensiveness of the cultivations. The findings indicate that only with subsidy is such an investment advantageous.
